Spring in Chicago

We are starting to have some great spring weather and are spending as much time outside as possible. Amelia has enjoyed picnicking with her buddy Johnny Quinn and loves listening to the birds sing when she goes for walks at daycare.

Her latest trick? Rolling over. Here she is post roll.

Sleeping

Amelia is toying with idea of figuring out this whole sleeping thing. She even gave us 3 nights of 8 hours of uninterrupted sleep. In honor of her improved sleeping I thought I would share some pictures of her peacefully slumbering:

crashed out with daddy

lazy Sunday with Uncle Tomme

long car rides always zonk her out

and finally in her crib!

March Sadness

Although KU won't be winning back to back National Championships Amelia did get to see her first live KU basketball game. We joined GranAnn in Indianapolis for the Michigan State game. Special thanks to Amelia's new friend Randy for the awesome seats as we were 10 rows from the court. Amelia cheered her heart out but it just wasn't meant to be. Now dad's attention can be focused on his beloved Cubbies.

Big Changes

March has been all about adjusting in our household as I went back to work at the beginning of the month. We feel fortunate with the home daycare Amelia attends. She pretty much starved herself for the first week and a half by refusing to take a bottle. We are now proud to report that our little girl has turned out to be very resilient (that is for you Auntie M) and happily spends her days eating, smiling and enjoying the other babies. Mark and I have been able to stagger our schedules a bit so I get special mommy time in the morning and Mark gets daddy time before I come home from work. It isn't for a lack of trying but we can't seem to get pictures of her brilliant smile but here are others we think are pretty darn cute:

"Winter Babies Wear Layers" is a book we read to Amelia which her Great-Aunt Chris gave her. When you are a Chicago baby you get to rock your bright pink snow well into March.

Oh boy does dad love March. Fortunately for him Amelia decided she is rooting for the Jayhawks this year.

So strong!

Amelia has a very important role of making sure dad has things covered in the kitchen.

Darn it I'm cute!

First Vacation

Our camera is back! It took us a while to get this post done but that is what happens when you leave your camera in Phoenix. We spent Valentine's weekend in Phoenix with a lot of family. Amelia made her parents very proud with how great she did on the plane. Here are some highlights of our trip:

Say Cheese! Amelia was all smiles at O'Hare waiting for her first plane ride.

Amelia might not look real happy but she told us that she loved traveling!

Mom's cousin Caitlin came up from Tucson to spend the weekend with us.

Amelia and Papa watching KU basketball.

Amelia got lots of kisses on her first Valentine's Day!

Amelia enjoyed her first hike through the Sonoran Desert, okay she slept the entire time....

Mom loves having drinks at the Phoenician Resort and Amelia was a good sport and let us enjoy our drinks and the view.

Papa had Amelia "help" him in the kitchen. We don't think Papa will be babysitting by himself anytime soon.

Playing with daddy outside.

Oh how we all miss the sunshine now that we are back in Chicago!

Month Two

Amelia had a great second month. It has been a cold, snowy winter even by Chicago standards so Amelia hasn't been able to get out and about as much as she would like. Some of her favorite activities this past month have been:

Dad and Amelia stay entertained sticking their tongues out at each other. We are so proud of our daughter's accomplishments!

We hope that this doesn't become a problem later in life but Amelia appears to prefer being sans-clothing. She especially loves "naked time" after her bath.

Although it is cold we do get out as often as possible. Amelia loves being out and about and thinks she looks pretty good in her polar bear outfit.

and finally Amelia's favorite activity of January was smiling! Stay tuned as next week Amelia is going on her first vacation to sunny Phoenix....

Happy New Year!!!

Amelia has decided that this whole holiday thing is a pretty good gig. Her first holidays were full of love. Some of the highlights:

She got to meet Grandma and Grandpa Lang who came back to Illinois from California. They couldn't pass up Christmas with their girls Georgia and Amelia. Amelia thinks that Grandpa Lang is perfect for napping on!

Grandma Ann and Auntie M came in from Kansas. Amelia already misses having so many people around to hold her.
Santa came to see her for the first time. On the way home she asked why Santa sounded so much like Uncle Tomme.
Playing with her cousin Georgia is always fun!

While all the fun is over and the company gone Amelia has decided that having mom and dad to dote over her isn't so bad.....
